Sexual Health Laboratory

Here at the London Dermatology Centre we are fortunate to be able to use The Doctors Laboratory (TDL), a fully CPA accredited high-end pathology service. Established in 1987, it is the largest independent provider of clinical laboratory services in the UK. Their Patient Reception is located conveniently just a few doors away from The London Dermatology CentreTM.

Your results

We expect that your tests will have a fast turnaround time, and many results will be available a few hours after your specimens have been received in the laboratory. This means that you can receive rapid reassurance if your tests are all clear. You will be asked your preferred means of receiving results—for example by email, a telephone call or in person. Because of the sensitive nature of many of your tests, we will discuss individually with you how to ensure confidentiality in conveying the results.

Charges for Pathology Tests (As at 13th May 2019)

If you are advised to complete any tests for sexually transmitted infections following your consultation you can find the charges for these here. Some tests are for specific infections such as Chlamydia and Gonnorhoea whereas other tests are able to detect an entire profile of possible infections. The price of each test reflects the number of infections and diseases it will be able to detect. Testing for sexually transmitted infections and diseases usually involves testing blood samples, urine samples and swabs. Following your consultation you will be advised on which tests you are most at need of and what these will involve. The turn-around time for each of these tests varies from a few hours to a few days.
