Aesthetic Treatments

At The London Dermatology CentreTM we offer a complete range of non-surgical cosmetic treatments. Whether you are looking for hair removal, non-surgical rhinoplasty or just to refresh and rejuvenate your appearance, our experienced doctors and aesthetic nurses will provide you with an expert, professional service.

The London Dermatology Centre's aesthetic practitioners provide the following treatments:

IPL Hair Removal

IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light. IPL is a safe and effective way of reducing unwanted hair. Hair growth is reduced by a series of treatments using controlled light impulses, this is known as photo depilation. Light is absorbed by the pigment of the hair (this is what gives the hair its colour) causing the hair follicle to heat up and be destroyed without any damage to the surrounding tissue. By removing the hair follicles hair growth is significantly reduced. Here at The London Dermatology Centre we use a state of the art, high energy IPL laser system. There are currently only 7 of these machines in the UK. We chose this particular system because of its range of treatment heads and filters that enables us to provide personalised treatments to almost any area of the body.

IPL Facial Rejuvenation

The IPL treatment can also be used to visibly reduce the signs of ageing and the damage caused by sun exposure, trauma, illness and other lifestyle factors. The IPL system regenerates the skin by stimulating the production of collagen over a period of time. This improves the skin's elasticity, texture and can help to reduce fine lines and wrinkles. The Lumenis One IPL machine used at The London Dermatology Centre comes with a range of heads and filters that are treatment-specific. This allows our experienced team to deliver an individually tailored treatment according to your skin type.

IPL & YAG Thread Vein Treatment

A variety of skin conditions including rosacea, thread veins and spider naevi can also benefit from IPL treatment. The YAG treatment head delivers a precise energy level to the target vein that gets absorbed by the blood stream. The heat generated by the light source heats up the vessel’s walls which breaks it down. By breaking down the vessel wall the filling ability of the vein reducing its appearance. After a period of time the entire vein is broken down and gets absorbed into the blood stream.

Electrolysis Hair Removal

Electrolysis is an alternative to IPL for hair reduction. Each individual hair follicle is treated with a disposable, fine probe that permanently destroys the follicle’s ability to reproduce. By destroying the follicle further hair regrowth is reduced and hair in the target area is slowly eliminated over a course of treatments.

Fraxel

Fraxel is a treatment that uses fractional laser technology to treat minor to severe skin damage. The Fraxel laser is an effective treatment for scarring, sun spots, wrinkles and other signs of aging. The laser targets both the superficial and the deeper layers of the skin giving a smoother, fresher and more youthful appearance. It is an effective treatment for anywhere on the body. The Fraxel treatment is carried out by one of our highly trained specialists. During your initial consultation the specialist will discuss the procedure with you and come up with a personalised treatment plan. For the best results it is recommended that patients have 3 to 6 sessions of Fraxel treatment. Each Fraxel treatment will take between 20 to 30 minutes.

Clear & Brilliant

The Clear + Brilliant treatment is a revolutionary non-invasive laser treatment that fights the natural effects aging has on skin. This gentle treatment helps improve dull, sun damaged skin by creating a more even skin canvas. The Clear + Brilliant laser treatment is most often used to help prevent the signs of ageing and to reduce the appearance of open pores. It can also reduce the appearance of scars, excess pigmentation, tighten pores and improve overall skin texture and tone. The procedure is comfortable, affordable and safe for all skin tones. Clear + Brilliant is perfect for both men and women who want a radiant, youthful glow with minimal downtime. Reduce the signs of aging and keep your skin looking younger and glowing in just 4 to 6 treatments.

ProFractional Laser

The ProFractional laser is a revolutionary technology that is particularly effective at treating patients suffering from acne scarring. Created by Sciton, the ProFractional laser has been used to great effect by Dr Sunil Chopra to achieve excellent resurfacing results with minimal downtime. A small laser beam vaporises thousands of pinpoint areas of the top layer of skin. The surrounding untreated skin promotes rapid healing. During the healing process new collagen is formed which can plump the skin to correct imperfections. The benefits of ProFractional include increased patient comfort, shorter healing times, and tunable results that range from subtle to dramatic. The ProFractional laser can be used on all skin types and can treat most areas of skin. The most popular areas are the face and neck. Immediately following the procedure you may experience some mild redness and a sensation resembling sunburn. This should subside within a few days.

Carboxytherapy

Carboxytherapy is a treatment that uses carbon dioxide (CO2) to increase blood flow to treated areas. By increasing the blood flow to target areas you also increase the amount of nutrients and oxygen supplied to that area of skin which stimulates cells to repair and to produce more collagen. Skin-Breath® is a high quality, medical device used to perform carboxytherapy treatments. This impressive miniaturised CO2 Pen has been designed to improve stretch marks and skin laxity.

Aluma

Aluma is the perfect treatment for anyone looking for smoother, tighter and more youthful skin. Skin laxity can be a problem in many facial areas such as the jowls and under eye bags as well as elsewhere on the body. The Aluma treatment is a rejuvenating procedure using radiofreqency technology to improve skin laxity and texture. The deeper layers of skin are heated by radio waves to stimulate the production of new collagen. This plumps and tightens skin giving it a smoother, fresher appearance.

Radio Frequency

Radio frequency is a non-invasive cosmetic procedure to help smooth, tighten, contour and temporarily reduce the appearance of cellulite. It can help treat sagging skin, lack of definition in the jaw line, loose jowls, sagging neck skin, wrinkles and fine lines. Radio frequency uses electrical pulses to target and penetrate the under layer of skin using heat to stimulate collagen production. During the procedure you will feel a brief deep heating sensation. Results should be visible immediately and improve over a period of two to six months. Treatment sites include: face, area surround the lip, outer orbit area of the eyes, arms, thighs, abdomen, hands and buttocks.

Liposonix

Liposonix is one of the latest, non-surgical fat reduction technologies. Using state of the art, high frequency ultrasound waves, undesirable fat cells are destroyed in a procedure lasting between 30 to 60 minutes. With minimal downtime after the procedure you can return to your normal daily activities the same day as the treatment. The body naturally processes and permanently removes the destroyed fat cells.

AQUALYX

AQUALYX is a treatment used to banish the fat from those difficult-to-lose areas. A combination of AQUALYX injections and ultrasound is used to dissolve fat in target areas from almost anywhere on the body. AQUALYX contains desoxycholan-acid, a secondary bile acid that effectively dissolves fat cells by the process of cavitational adipocytolysis.

Non-surgical Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty (more commonly known as the nose job) is one of the most desired cosmetic procedures, but many patients are frightened by potential surgical complications and the risk of unfavourable permanent results. The non-surgical rhinoplasty is a safe, non-invasive alternative to the traditional surgical rhinoplasty. The treatment involves using dermal filler injections to reshape your nose to your desired shape. The non-surgical rhinoplasty is an affordable alternative option for those who wish to alter the shape of their nose but do not want surgery.

Chemical Peels

The London Dermatology Centre has a range of facial peels suitable for a number of different conditions.

The Obagi Blue Peel is used to resurface the skin to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, pigmentation variance over the face, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation after acne, sun damage, lentigo solaris and actinic keratosis.

The Glycolic Peel stimulates the production of collagen by clearing the superficial layer of dead skin that gives a dull complexion. The peel is mild and used in conjunction with prescribed skin preparations as part of the treatment regimen you will see rejuvenated skin and a healthy glow to your complexion.

Mesoeclat is a skin peel system made up of Salicylic Acid and a further pre and post-peel supplement that are continued at home as part of the course to reveal new healthy younger looking skin. The peel strips away the top layer of skin to reveal the smoother, fresher skin below. Your skin looks refreshed with fewer wrinkles and firmer facial skin.

The Perfect Peel utilises a unique formula to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and acne as well as lightening Melasma, sun damage and hyperpigmentation. After one treatment of The Perfect Peel, overall skin tone and complexion will appear smooth, glowing and fresh. A series of 2 to 3 treatments applied once every 4 weeks will allow for optimum results.

Dermal Fillers

Over time the amount of collagen in your skin diminishes causing skin to lose its volume. This is a perfectly normal part of the ageing process, but these lines and wrinkles can be unwelcome. Dermal fillers help to temporarily replenish the areas affected by loss of volume. The fillers contain hyaluronic acid which is naturally present in your skin. Hyaluronic acid has replaced older collagen based products as it has a shorter period of recovery, better results and considerably fewer adverse reactions. The London Dermatology Centre stocks a number of different dermal fillers, including Juvederm®, Restylane®, and Teosyal®. Your aesthetic physician will be able to advise on the product best suited to your needs and your skin type.

Botox®

Botox®, otherwise known as Botulinum Toxin, is the most popular anti-ageing treatment available. It is a naturally occurring protein derived from the bacterium Clostridium Botulinum. Wrinkles are caused by changes in the skin, around areas where muscles are overactive, for example, around the eyes and mouth. The Botulinum renders muscles temporarily inactive making the face appear softer, smoother and younger. The most commonly treated areas are frown lines on the forehead, Crow's feet around eyes, bunny lines on the bridge of the nose, horizontal necklace lines and vertical platysmal bands.

Hyperhydrosis Botox® Treatment

Botox® is proven to significantly reduce excessive and inappropriate underarm sweating, known medically as hyperhidrosis. Excessive sweating can be a troublesome problem for many and can limit an individual's social, professional and personal lives. Topical antiperspirants tend to mask the problem by blocking pores. These are often ineffective and can be potentially harmful. First, a local anaesthetic is applied to numb the area. Then, a fine needle is used to make 15 to 20 injections into each underarm. The results usually last between 4 to 8 months.

Migraine and Headache Botox® Treatment

Botox® has now been approved for the treatment of chronic migraines in the UK. Patients have been treated for chronic migraines with Botox® in the US since 2010! A Chronic migraine is defined as headaches occurring on 15 or more days each month, at least half of which have migrainous features. It is not exactly clear why Botox® is an effective treatment for chronic migraines but it is thought that, as well as being a muscle relaxant, it may work to block pain signals by inhibiting the release of neurotransmitters.

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is an effective treatment for giving you fresher, younger looking skin. It is used to improve the appearance of fine lines, black heads, acne scars, stretch marks, age pots, large pores, pigmentation and sun damage. Microdermabrasion is a method of deep exfoliation through the application of special medical grade crystals. These tiny crystals are used to buff away the top surface layer of skin that contains the dead skin cells and is home to minor skin imperfections such as fine wrinkles and acne scarring. Special crystals used in the microdermabrasion procedure break down the top layer of skin stimulating the production of new collagen and exposing the newer, healthier skin below.

DermaPen

The Dermapen uses microneedles to create a controlled area of trauma using an electronic device that resembles a pen. The Dermapen is moved backwards and forwards across the skin as the microneedles automatically go in and out of the device around 1000 times a minute. After the procedure your skin may be slightly red. This can last up to 4 days depending on the depth and intensity of the treatment you have.

Visia Skin Assessment

Visia Skin and Complexion Analysis uses multi-spectral imaging to reveal signs of ageing and skin damage beneath the surface of the skin that is not visible to the human eye. Visia's computer imaging enables London Dermatology Centres' practitioners to evaluate the health and appearance of your skin based on six criteria that affect your complexion: wrinkles, spots, pores, evenness (skin tone colour variation), porphyrins (evidence of bacteria in your pores), and UV spots caused by overexposure to the sun.
